SKILL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES
In the Hope Children’s Home, there are 82 children in the age group of 5 to 18. The Children study in different classes from UKG to Higher Secondary. There is a growing need to help the children to acquire skills, which will make them self-supportive, and they will be able to face the challenges of like with confidence, courage, and capacity. The activities like computer training, typewriting, shorthand, handworks, tailoring and embroidery help the children to enrich themselves knowledge. They utilize their leisure time with definite meaning. Leadership training programmes are organized for once in three months. Similarly the self- employment training programmes like soap making, toy making, candle making and cover making will be initiated to help the children.
CO-CURRICULAR AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
In order to improve the children’s performance in curricular and co-curricular activities, quiz programmes, elocution, essay writing and drawing competitions are organized and the children are encouraged with certificates and prizes. Music classes to teach musical instruments like keyboard, guitar etc are conducted in the children’s Home during the holidays. The Children are motivated to participate in sports and competitions held in their schools.
MORAL SCIENCE CLASS
Considering the supreme importance of imparting value based education to the children, moral science classes are conducted. These classes are designed to make the children responsible citizens. The ideals of social concern and ethics are imparted through these classes.
APPOINTMENT AND TRAINING
The full – time and part – time trainers are recruited in the children home. The help of the volunteers and social workers are also sought to carry out the training programmes. Empathetic and sincere staff committed to establish parent like relationships are appointed. The staff members are adequately trained to involve themselves fully to be efficient in childcare activities and in skill development activities.
