Hope of the Hopeless was born on 1 July 1990 in a rented premises at 9B, Mission mettu street, Thanjavur 613 001 to cater the needs of the needy children. The organization was registered with the Registrar of Societies, Thanjavur (52/1990)
Hope of the Hopeless identified five needy children and placed them in the hostel managed by a Progressive Charity Board, Siruganur, Trichy District. Having identified the child sponsors, these children were helped financially to stay in the hostel to continue their studies, between 1990 and 1993.
In July 1993, the organization established a home for the children in HC267, Anna Nagar in rented premises and started rendering residential care to five needy children. As the organization identified child sponsors, subscribers and donors the services have been extended to 34 children. The organization continued to function in the same rented premises from July 1993 to June 2001 Hope Home At Anna Nagar, Trichy-26.
In August 1999 with the help of Hope Home supporters, the organization bought four plots (9252 sq.feet) to construct a home for the children at 9 – 12 Visuvasa Avenue, Uyyakondan Thirumalai, Trichy-620102. In the same month, the Hope Home supporters were invited to extend a helping hand to construct a home for the children. With the help of the donations raised the first phase of construction was completed in Feb 2001. Second phase of construction work was initiated with the help of Hope Home supporters to provide a living room for the children, and a warden's room. The construction work was completed in Dec 2001. The construction of the staff quarters and office was initiated with the help of Hope Home supporters in Oct 2002 and the building was completed in Sep 2003.
Presently the organization is providing residential care to 82 needy children and their educational level ranges from UKG to 12th Std.
The organization purchased 4.27 acres of land at Kunnathur village, 16 km from Trichy Bus stand, on the Trichy – Madurai road, for the expansion of residential childcare activities. The registration of the land took place on 11 September 2007. In order to have adequate road facility, the organization purchased 0.42 acre land and the registration of the land took place on 11 February 2008. Mr. P. Vallavabai, well-wisher of Hope of the Hopeless helped in all possible ways to acquire the land for the organization. The land purchased by the organisation was dedicated for the benefit of the children on 20 Oct 2007 and the land is named as Hope Garden.
The organisation planned the first phase of construction work at Hope Garden, Kunnathur village. This includes the digging of a bore well, fixing a motor, building a compound wall on two sides and fencing the other two sides, getting a three – phase EB connection and constructing three dormitories and a multipurpose hall. This is to provide residential care for another 100 needy children. The hope children’s Home Kunnathur was dedicated on 16 June 2009. There are four children and they study in classes from VI std to VIII std for the academic year 2009-2010. They study in Good Samaritan High School, Nagamangalam. In July 2010, in Hope Home at Kunnathur, there were 20 children, studying from VI to XII std.
Hope of the Hopeless which is committed to provide basic education to underprivileged children in the rural villages in Trichy and Pudukottai district. The Non-residential children care centers are functioning in 20 following villages Kunnathur, Pidarampatti, Pidarampatti Colony, Kolarapatty, Senkurichi, Mekudi, Alundur, Mudikandam, Kullampatti, Saralapati, Melapachakudi, Thendral Nagar, Silambudaiyanpatti, Dheenadayalan Nagar, Solayakudi, Housing Board, Navalur, Melapatti and Ayilapettai
